The Remarkable Huntington Fête Prepares for Its 63rd Fete

St. Thomas à Becket Church, the United Reform Church and the Village Hall, Huntington, are once again preparing for its famous fête.  The fête was founded in 1954 at Huntington Court and it is still the venue for hundreds of Herefordians and Radnorshire people who visit it year after year. 

It is to take place on Saturday July 15th at Huntington Court at 3.00 pm, by kind permission of William and Fiona Shone.  The very well known farmer’s wife, Mrs. Rachel Jones, who has lived in Huntington for many years, will open the fete.

It is without doubt,  the most traditional fête in Herefordshire.  From   ‘Guess the Weight of the Sheep’ to ‘Wheel of Fortune’, from new innovations this year; pop guns and the wire loop game, there will be something for everyone. The many stalls, including the bottle stall, preserves and fruit stall, plant stall, book stall, WI stall, groaning with home made cakes as well as bric-a-brac and produce stalls,  there will be fun and bargains for everyone.    Then there are old-fashioned giant skittles, coconut shy, quoits of current politicians, ‘Splat-the Rat’ and so much more.  Finally, there is live music from ‘Bandamania’, giving a lovely atmosphere as people enjoy their home made teas on the lawn, or eat strawberries and ice-cream, before everyone comes together for the final generous raffle draw to award the winners. 

The whole event concludes with the magnificent releasing of hundreds of balloons, with the donors waiting to see where their balloon lands.

There is a free bus from Mill Street, Kington at 2.30 pm. and return and entrance is free.  Further details from:
